James Thomas' father, Frank, and my paternal great grandfather, William, were brothers.

Francis Wesley Edmonds (1858-1935)


Francis "Frank" Wesley Edmonds was born on December 29, 1858 in Clarke County, Georgia.  He was the tenth of eleven children born to the marriage of James Powell Edmonds and Rebecca Ann Snow.

The 1860 U.S. Census shows the Edmonds family living in Dark Corner, Clarke County, Georgia.


By 1870, Frank's father, James Powell Edmonds, had died in the Civil War. Frank is seen in the 1870 U.S. Census living with his mother and siblings in Monroe, Walton County, Georgia


The 1880 U.S. Census shows Frank living with his sister, Emma and her family in Bay Creek, Gwinnett County, Georgia.


On January 7, 1883, Francis "Frank" Wesley Edmonds married Mary "Mattie" Elizabeth Pannell in Walton County, Georgia.


Frank and Mattie Edmonds moved to Clark County, Arkansas prior to 1900. The 1900 U.S. Census shows Frank and Mattie with eight of their twelve children living in the Missouri Township area of Clark County.


The 1910 U.S. Census shows Frank, Mattie and three of their children living in the same location.


Mary "Mattie" Elizabeth Pannell Edmonds died on August 20, 1912.


The 1920 and 1930 U.S. Census records show Frank as a widower and living in Missouri Township, Clark County, Arkansas.

Francis "Frank" Wesley Edmonds died on April 22, 1935.  He is buried alongside his wife in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Sycamore, Clark County, Arkansas.

Francis "Frank" Wesley Edmonds was my paternal great grand uncle through his brother, my great grandfather, William Newell Edmonds; his son, Bruce Edmonds; and his grandson, Bruce Alfonso Edmonds.
